High Priest (and major profiteer) of global warming Al Gore says that global warming skeptics "are this generation's racists" and must be marginalized just as racists were during the civil rights movement. "My generation asked old people 'Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?' And when they really couldn't answer that question with integrity, the change really started."

"Answer the question with integrity." This lies at the heart of the matter.  PRO-manmade (anthropogenic) global warming (AGW) activists such as Gore have been caught time after time cheating, misrepresenting, and deceiving in order to score points in the "conversation."

• Gore admitted pushing subsidies for corn-based ethanol, despite evidence showing lack of results, simply to score political points in Iowa.
• The Climategate e-mails show that scientists privately conspired to punish editors of peer-reviewed journals for publishing studies that disputed AGW, while publicly deriding any research that was not published in those same journals.
• Hysterical claims -- inevitably followed by calls for more government funding --  have been shown to be based on a single author's words, discredited data, or sloppy research.
• Claims of horrendous consequences have been "adjusted" when reality fails to match earlier predictions.  

The lack of integrity in the methods shown by the pro-AGW side, combined with their religious fervor in attacking anyone who dares to even question them -- Gore's "marginalization" process -- is enough to make a reasonable person question their conclusions.

Al Gore: Politics, not science, motivated him

While Vice President, Al Gore pushed for subsidies for corn-based ethanol. He cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate in 1994 upholding the Environmental Protection Agency's requirement that ethanol be part of all gasoline additives.  As a result, 41% of the total corn crop that was previously raised for food (for people or livestock) is now diverted to fuel production.  This diversion has resulted in higher food prices.  (I've written on this before.)

Now, at a recent "green" conference in Athens, Gore confessed that the subsidies were a bad idea.  The energy conversion ratio from corn to fuel "is very small."  His support for the subsidies was based on his own political ambitions, not science.  Gore said, "I paid particular attention to the farmers in my home state of Tennessee....and I had a certain fondness for the farmers in the state of Iowa because I was about to run for president."

We knew all this before.  The only thing newsworthy about this story is that Gore confessed in public.

Allegations against Gore

I've made no secret of my disdain for Al Gore in the past, and how his self-serving campaign on the theory of man-made global warming has hurt the world.

I think, however, that the sexual assault allegations made against him by a masseuse seem a little shady, at least so far. Police have reopened the investigation, and more evidence may come to light. Until that time, I have to (gulp) give Al Gore the benefit of the doubt.

Our Version of M. Moore

Journalist, documentarian and film maker Phelim McAleer has suddenly become a thorn in the global warming alarmists' side. And they're not handling it well. In fact, they're resorting to physical force to silence him.



And here's what "the debate is over" means to Al Gore.



This whole climate change conference in Copenhagen has proven very embarrassing for Gore. Go, Karma!

Karma Kicks Gore in the Rear

"Inconvenient truth for Al Gore as his North Pole sums don't add up" blared the headline on a (UK) Times Online news article. Gore finally got called down on one of his bogus claims -- by the scientist whose research he was referencing.

From the article: "Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore."

Mr. Gore Doesn't Like Questions...

...at least questions that challenge him. Note his deft use of the political two-step to avoid answering the question.





Gore and others like him (i.e., Democrats and other Liberals) who make claims such as he makes should have to answer for their methods before any debate over the details of their argument. Why is Gore unwilling to engage in a real debate on the subject? (The answer, of course, is that his argument is weak, and demagoguing the issue is the only way he can influence legislation and continue to profit from his fear-mongering.) As I've written before, Al Gore and others intend to profit from global warning alarmism. It always helps to track the money trail.

By the way, Gore's claim that the court ruled in his favor is pretty exaggerated. The British court ruled that the film "violated laws barring the promotion of partisan political views in the classroom" and could only be "shown on the condition that it is accompanied by guidance notes to balance Gore's 'one-sided' views."

Who'd a Thunk It?

Environmentalist and supergreen activist James Lovelock, who originated the Gaia theory describing the earth as a self-regulating entity, had this to say about carbon trading and the business of making money off of global warming fears:

"Most of the green stuff is verging on a gigantic scam. Carbon trading, with its huge government subsidies, is...not going to do a damn thing about climate change, but it'll make a lot of money for a lot of people..."

The Myth of Consensus Explodes

The American Physical Society, which has a membership of nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on global warming/climate change, and now says that many of its members don't believe in manmade global warming.

The APS is also sponsoring public depate on the whole charade. One paper published by a member of the APS concluded that the United Nations IPCC report and its claims have been "grossly overstated by IPCC modeling."

Larry Gould, Professor of Physics at the University of Hartford and Chairman of the New England Section of the APS, called the paper an "exposé of the IPCC that details numerous exaggerations and "extensive errors."

I guess fifty thousand skeptical scientists are all "deniers" also. Is it too late to stop global warming legislation?

Two Gore-y Stories

Story #1

A new report indicates that Al Gore's energy usage over the last year increased by ten percent. Gore, whose gluttonous use of energy was chronicled earlier, consumes twenty times the amount of energy to light his mansion as the normal household. He of course is forgiven by Liberals for his -- umm....inconsistency -- because he is wealthy enough to purchase "carbon offsets." Each day, of course, more of his wealth comes from brokering "carbon offset" purchases by other rich Liberals, who can then feel good about themselves. Meanwhile, he admonishes everyone else to reduce their energy usage.

How does Al Gore maintain any credibility whatsoever with any thinking person? I actually had to edit myself to keep from using coarse language to describe him.

Take Back the Nobel

Al Gore's Oscar-winning propagandumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" continues to fall to pieces under the light of closer inspection. Newsbusters.org reports that ABC News revealed last Friday that one of the most famous scenes in the film was fake.

The scene, purportedly showing Antarctic ice shelves "calving" (breaking apart,) was actually a CGI from the opening of the movie "The Day After Tomorrow."

Add this to the faked "stranded polar bears" photo, and you can see the pattern take shape. Not only does Gore lie, misrepresent and dissemble, he then has the gall to proclaim "The debate is over."

Not hardly.

Since so many people were convinced by Al Gore's propaganda movie "An Inconvenient Truth," maybe the best way to refute his claims is visually. The Heartland Institute thinks so.

The Debate Ain't Over Yet, Al

John Stossel started his column "Don't Look to Government to Cool Down the Planet" with a reference to his other job:

Recently on "20/20," I said "give me a break" to Al Gore for
claiming that the global-warming debate is over and suggesting that all dissenters were in it for the money. I interviewed independent scientists who say Gore is wrong.

In this standout column, Stossel also adds a link to the Science and Public Policy Institute, which prominently displays on its website an article titled ""35 Inconvenient Truths: The Errors in Al Gore's Movie."

Stossel cites experts who criticize the UN's attempt to promote global warming alarmism. "Consensus is the stuff of politics, not science," says Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute. The scientific process ought to be left to play itself out with as little political bias as possible. Politically influenced research is poison to science.

Part of the problem is the IPCC itself. Reiter points out, "It's the inter-governmental panel on climate change. It's governments who nominate people. It's inherently political. Many of the scientists are on the IPCC because they view global warming as a problem that needs to be fixed. They have a vested interest."

Stossel also cites a member of the UN's "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" (IPCC) who disputes the so-called "consensus" view and reiterates the argument that trying to control CO2 emissions (for the purpose of slowing global warming) is ineffective and a waste of time.

This should be must-reading for everyone, but especially for those who want to clobber those blockheads who insist that the "global warming debate is over" -- blockheads like Al Gore.

A Quick Thought On: Al Gore

Al Gore makes much about the so-called "consensus" of scientific opinion that he claims supports his theory on global warming. He has recently begun the campaign to stop the media from presenting both sides of the story. Or, as he says in his propaganda piece An Inconvenient Truth, "The debate is over." In other words, the scientists voted, his side won, and we should stop checking.

The reason he wants to stop the scientific "vote" now is that he's lost every other recount he was involved in.

Alfred Albert "Al" Gore Jr. is the co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Experts give their opinions:

Gjermund Hagesaether, of Norway's Progress Party: "We believe it is strange to give the prize to Al Gore for having made a film on climate that is subjective, one-sided and full of one-sided assertions."

Award-winning French geochemist Claude Allegre: "The amount of nonsense in Al Gore's film! It's all politics, it's designed to intervene in American politics. It's scandalous."

Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts: "We're brainwashing our children. They're going to the Gore movie and being fed all this. It's ridiculous. We'll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was."

Dr. Gray added: "It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong. But they also know that they'd never get any grants if they spoke out."

Czech President Vaclav Klausa: "[I'm] a bit surprised that Al Gore has received a peace prize because the connection between his activities and world peace are vague and not very clear."

What "Living Green" Means to Al Gore

Deborah Corey Barnes wrote an article which recently appeared on HumanEvents.com that shows exactly which "green" Al Gore is trying hard to generate -- and as you'd expect, it's the color of money.

The money is created by the buying and selling of "carbon offsets." The government would establish arbitrary caps on greenhouse gases for each company. If a company exceeds the amount the government set, it could pay a fine or "buy" pollution credits from another company; if it is under the limit, it could sell the remaining pollution credits to someone else.

What this trading does is create an "emissions market" for traders and brokers to deal in pollution credits. One company already engaged in such activites is Generation Investment Management (GIM), whose chairman and founder is Al Gore.

According to Gore, the London-based firm invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companies that are going green. “Generation Investment Management, purchases -- but isn’t a provider of -- carbon dioxide offsets,” said spokesman Richard Campbell in a March 7 report by CNSNews.

The True Colors of a Global Warming Propagandist

Al Gore proved the weakness of his position on global warming in his recent appearances before the Senate and House Environment & Public Works Committees.

First, Gore demanded that he be granted an unprecedented thirty minute statement before the members could ask questions.

Next, Gore refused to abide by the traditional rule whereby witnesses who appear before a Congressional committee are required to submit statements 48 hours in advance before their appearance. Out of respect for his position as a former Senator and former Vice President, the Senate agreed to require only 24 hours advance notice. Gore ignored this deadline, instead submitting his statement one minute before his appearance in the House, and just hours before his appearance in the Senate.

When Senator James Inhofe, the leading anti-alarmist in Congress, and an expert on global warming science himself, asked Gore questions, Gore tried to filibuster so he wouldn't have to really provide answers. The Democrats tossed softballs so Gore could pedant some more.

It is clear from Gore's actions that he did not want a serious debate over global warming, especially against a prepared opponent who would skewer him in front of the cameras.

What he wanted was a stage where he could spout his propaganda under the guise of "official statements." If Gore really had evidence, he would have enjoyed the give-and-take of a serious debate, especially in the brightly-lit arena of a Congressional committee hearing.

Get ready for July 7, a "day of persuasion" about global warming, according to Gore. Public opinion has been shifting, and Gore is about to lose his lucarative business selling carbon credits to fools. Let that be a lesson: Never mess with a Democrat's money.
