In the killing fields of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge, the government used informers in each village to determine who was loyal. Those who were deemed not loyal enough were led to mass graves and beaten to death or buried alive. "Bullets are not to be wasted" was the cost-saving directive.
.
The Obama White House is now asking informers to contact them with information that they consider "disloyal." The White House issued a memo.asking the public to inform the Obama administration of any "fishy" e-mails or blogs. Fishy, in this case, being anything critical of the Obama healthcare plan, which the White House characterizes as "disinformation." That's right, Obama's Chicago Political Machine is channeling Pol Pot.
.
Luckily, at least one politician, Texas Senator John Cornyn, is confronting the Obama White House on this hideous new political tactic.
.
The question is this: What are they going to do with the information? Suddenly, exercising my First Amendment rights feels like something the White House is prepared to punish. Is that what the President is supposed to do? And if their attitude is that a move like this is acceptable, what else do they have in mind for Americans?
