From a Reuters story about Republican Mark Kirk and his chances in the Illinois US Senate race, quoting DePaul University political analyst Michael Mezey:
"...[Kirk]'s a moderate, middle-of-the-road candidate. He's been pro-choice, pro-gay rights, anti-gun."
Moderate? Middle-of-the-road?
That's the media trying to define the center.
