Barack Obama, Spartanburg, NC, November 3, 2007: "I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race - and I've won. I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am President, they won't find a job in my White House."
December 11, 2008, Washington Post Headline: "Obama Nominates Daschle for HHS [Tom Daschle as Secretary of Health and Human Services.]"
Wikipedia entry on Tom Daschle: "[Daschle] signed on as a Senior Policy Advisor with the K Street law firm Alston & Bird. Health care interests, including CVS Caremark, the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, Abbott Laboratories and HealthSouth, are among the firm's lobbying clients."
In other words, Obama's new HHS Secretary was a lobbyist. Ahem.

BUT YOU KNOW as well as I DO -- Dear Leader has to CHANGE because of the 8 "failed-policy" yrs. he sweeping up after. There seems to be a little more CHANGE every day or is just me ?
Ahhh, ain't "change" great?
Read yesterday that he's thinking about sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan.
Sounds like more of the same to me.
It's hard for me to fathom how more than half of the people that live in this country/voted in the last election are complete morons. Incredible.
Never overestimate the intelligence of the American public. We're the same society that made a commodity out of Pet Rocks.
The real question is, why are the Republicans so inept when it comes to campaigns? I have theorized before that the Republcian Party's finest campaign moment was the Contract with America in '93-'94. The Contract was principles (and principled,) spelled out with a message that was easy for the electorate to understand. The principles gave Americans something to vote for. (I wrote a blog entry about the Contract previously.) However, they can't campaign as Conservatives and then govern as Liberals. They ought to have learned that lesson by now.
